Cannon Park - Chickasaw County - Nashua - 42.954516 by -92.538333

The cannon is a 75mm Japanese Type 41 - thanks to Tom Batha for help in identification of this cannon. The nice little park is along the river and just west of the business district on the north side of Highway 346. Photo was taken 7/4/08.


Northern Most Battle Monument - Lee County - Croton - 40.590716 by -91.691216

The cannon is a Japanese Type 38 (1905) 77mm field gun - thanks to Tom Batha for its identification. 


Town Square - Marion County - Pella - 41.407200 by -92.916883

This is a 155mm Japanese howitzer Type 4. I formerly lived in Pella and remember well playing on this cannon as I was growing up. Photo taken 5/10/09. The close-up photos were taken 9/25/18. In 1912, two Civil War cannons were placed by the monument. These were scrapped for metal for World War II in 1942. The Japanese cannon was received in 1948 - see final two old photos. Thanks to the Pella Historical Trust for information.


Veterans Memorial - Pottawattamie County - Avoca - 41.477766 by -95.339183

This is a 105mm Japanese Type 91 Howitzer. Thanks to Tom Batha for identification. The cannon is in a nice location just north of the Avoca business district on Crocker and High streets. The area has been remodeled into a Veteran's Memorial. The photo was taken 5/18/13.
