Emmetsburg - Civil War Monument GPS Coordinates: 43.092972 by -94.679444

This monument is in Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg. The inscription on the upper portion reads, "GAR To Our Unknown Dead." The lower inscription is a Latin quotation, "Dum Tagent Clamant," meaning their silence speaks louder than words. The cemetery is located just south of town off Highway 4 - take the main entrance and the monument is straight ahead. The first photo was taken 10/20/17 - the close-up photos were taken 9/18/18.
