Henderson - GAR Monument GPS Coordinates: 41.131750 by -95.419194

This monument was erected by A. S. Paul, a member of Company D, 95th New York Infantry Regiment, in 1929. "GAR" does not show up well but is at the top of the monument. On the back are more recent inscriptions honoring the military services. Private Paul enlisted in 1864 at age 17 in the 95th New York and was present in many of the battles and events in the latter stages of the War including the Surrender at Appomattox. This monument is at the west entrance to the Farm Creek Cemetery. Take Cary Avenue west off Highway 59 to the Cemetery. Thanks to Mike Carr for notifying me of the monument. Also, thanks to Bette Rieken Byers, Sec/Treas of the Cemetery Board of Trustees, for providing much information about the history of the monument, the military record of Mr. Paul and others buried there. She mentioned that there are a number of descendants of Mr. Paul still living in the region. Photos taken 5/12/18.
