Grand Junction - Civil War Memorial - GPS Coordinates: 42.023550 by -94.260300

This very nice granite memorial is in the Junction Township cemetery. It has names of 40 Civil War soldiers from the area inscribed on four sides of the Monument. It is about 8 feet high. It is in a prominent location in the center of the cemetery. The cemetery is about two miles SW of Grand Junction on County Road E53. The 1st photo was taken 10/31/07 - the close-ups were taken 10/4/18.


Jefferson - Civil War Soldier - GPS Coordinates: 42.014850 by -94.359333

This is a 16 foot monument of a Civil War soldier. The location is in an outstanding setting at the entrance to the Jefferson cemetery. Shown are inscriptions on the front and back. The dedication was in 1902. It is on the east edge of Jefferson on East Lincolnway Avenue. The first 3 photos were taken 10/4/18. On 10/3/15 a re-dedication of the monument was held by the SUVCW. The third photo includes all attending the ceremony including SUVCW members, American Legion members and the Jefferson Boy Scout troop.


Scranton - Civil War Memorial - GPS Coordinates: 42.030550 by -94.578200

This 12 foot monument includes many medallions from patriotic organizations at the base. The cemetery is NW of Scranton. Take 225th Street, a gravel road, 1.5 miles west to the cemetery. The monument is in the central section of the cemetery. Thanks to Steve Hanken for notification about the memorial. The photos were taken 10/4/18.
